Osman Şahin

Osman Şahin was born in Mersin in 1940. He completed his higher education in 1958 in Ankara Teacher Training Institute, Department of Physical Education. He worked in Eastern and Southeastern Turkey as a sports teacher in high schools. In 1992, his story “Son Yörük” (The Last Anatolian Nomad) won second prize in a competition by the Sweden Humanist International Association. The same year he won Ömer Seyfettin Story Award and in 1994 Sait Faik Story Award. In 1998, he was awarded with Yunus Nadi Award for his book Mahşer. Several stories of Osman Şahin have been  translated into various languages and also become scripts of famous movie films in Turkey.
